B Corp Month celebrates the South West’s growing community of sustainable businesses

March is B Corp Month – an opportunity to celebrate Certified B Corporations and raise awareness of the positive impact they create. B Corps meet some of the highest global standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, ensuring that businesses support people and the planet alongside profit.

With more than 400 certified B Corps, the South West has the highest concentration of B Corps outside of London. The movement is supported by a wide range of businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability and community wellbeing. These organisations highlight the variety and strength of the South West’s sustainable business community.

Research shows that B Corps are more than twice as likely to use sustainable materials compared with typical businesses, which reflects the South West’s long‑standing connection to its natural environment and its commitment to protecting it for future generations.

To become certified, businesses complete a rigorous assessment based on B Lab’s Standards. This process evaluates areas such as purpose and stakeholder governance, human rights, climate action and fair work. Certification must be renewed every three years to ensure that companies continue to meet these high standards and maintain their positive impact locally and beyond.

Simon Beer, Director at Bigwave Marketing and Member of the Business Advisory Group, said:

“B Corp Month is a chance to recognise the growing and diverse community of B Corp certified businesses across Devon and Torbay and the role they play in building a fairer, more sustainable economy. For Bigwave Marketing, B Corp is more than a certification – it is a framework that helps us make better decisions and have a positive impact on our colleagues, our clients and our communities.”
