New data highlights Devon housing affordability as region showcases investment opportunities at UKREiiF

Officers from the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority (DTCCA) were at UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) as part of the Great South West delegation last week.

UKREiiF acts as an opportunity to showcase how the region is ready to deliver the UK’s national priorities at scale and show the diverse range of investment opportunities. One of the key enablers of growth is addressing the housing needs of communities in the South West.

The DTCCA in partnership with Marchmont Observatory, University of Exeter will publish an update to the data underlying the 2024 Devon Housing Commission report at their Housing Advisory Group next week. The updated report found that despite affordability improving marginally, housing Devon and Torbay still remains significantly less affordable than the England average.

At UKREiiF, the Great South West launched its 2026 Housing Prospectus. The prospectus sets out how coordinated infrastructure planning, increased investment from housing associations, and stronger partnerships can accelerate the delivery of new homes across the region.

Together, these efforts demonstrate a shared commitment across Devon, Torbay and the wider South West to tackle housing challenges by unlocking growth, supporting communities, and making the region an attractive place to live, work and invest.

Cllr David Thomas, Chair of the DTCCA, said:

“We know that providing the right homes in the right places is fundamental to the future prosperity of Devon and Torbay. This updated report highlights both the scale of the challenge and the urgency of taking action.

By working closely with our partners across the Great South West and engaging with investors at UKREiiF, we are making clear that our region has the ambition, collaboration and leadership needed to turn opportunity into homes for our communities.”
