Thousands of residents across Devon and Torbay are developing new skills, gaining qualifications and improving their employment prospects through courses funded by the Adult Skills Fund.

Since the programme launched this academic year, 2,485 learners have engaged with Adult Skills Fund courses, with a total of 3,865 enrolments recorded. The figures reflect the fact that many learners are choosing to study multiple courses or access different types of training to meet their personal and professional goals.

The Adult Skills Fund supports a broad range of learning opportunities, from entry-level courses through to Level 3 qualifications. The courses help residents build confidence, gain valuable skills and progress into further learning, employment or career advancement.

The programme covers a wide variety of subjects designed to meet local skills needs and support economic growth, while also providing opportunities for adults who may be returning to learning.

As Devon and Torbay continue to develop a skilled workforce that meets the needs of local employers and growing sectors, the Adult Skills Fund is playing an important role in helping residents access training opportunities close to home.

Residents interested in finding out more about the Adult Skills Fund and the range of courses available can visit the Devon and Torbay Combined County Authority website to explore local training providers and learning opportunities available in their area: Adult Skills Fund – Devon and Torbay.

Cllr David Thomas, Chair of the DTCCA, said:

“It is fantastic to see so many residents taking advantage of the opportunities available through the Adult Skills Fund. Whether someone is looking to progress in their career, improve their confidence or develop skills for everyday life, the Adult Skills Fund is helping people of all ages and backgrounds. By supporting local people to develop the skills employers need, we are helping businesses and communities across the region to thrive.”
